Anysphere’s Cursor Drives $9.9B Success
Anysphere, the creator of the AI-powered coding assistant Cursor, has secured a staggering $900 million in fresh funding, bringing its valuation to $9.9 billion, according to Bloomberg. The round was spearheaded by Thrive Capital, with returning support from top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and DST Global.
This marks the third funding round in under a year for the San Francisco-based startup, which previously raised $100 million at a $2.5 billion pre-money valuation late last year. Founded just three years ago, Anysphere is now a frontrunner in the rapidly expanding “vibe coding” segment – AI tools that assist developers with code generation, debugging, and productivity.
Cursor, Anysphere’s flagship product, has seen explosive growth in adoption and revenue. The company’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) has more than doubled every two months, according to sources. Bloomberg reports that ARR has now exceeded $500 million, marking a 60% surge from the $300 million recorded just weeks ago in mid-April.
Anysphere offers a tiered pricing structure for developers. Following a two-week free trial, users can subscribe to either a $20/month Pro plan or a $40/month Business option. While individual users have been the primary revenue drivers to date, the company is now expanding into enterprise licensing, enabling teams to deploy Cursor organization-wide at premium rates.
