WhatsApp has introduced a series of upgrades to its voice and video calling experience. The biggest addition is the ability to make and receive calls directly through WhatsApp Web without installing a separate desktop application. All changes will be implemented gradually.

WhatsApp Web now supports both one-on-one and group calls. Users also gain access to screen sharing, reactions, call history, and favorite contacts, making the browser version much more capable than before.

The update also allows active group calls to be transferred between smartphones, desktops, and browsers without interrupting the conversation. In addition, a new waiting room feature gives call hosts greater control over when participants are allowed to join.

The company has improved call quality by speeding up HD video activation at the beginning of conversations. A new noise suppression feature helps reduce background sounds and makes calls clearer.
