The social network Instagram Threads, which should seriously compete with the popular microblogging service Twitter, will be launched by Meta in the coming days. The main sign of its imminent release is the appearance of its application for the iPhone in the App Store. Instagram Threads was developed with the goal of bringing the community together and giving its members the opportunity to discuss different topics. Users of this site will be able to chat here with their friends and favorite bloggers, as well as create their own interest groups to post their thoughts and creativity there.

Although Threads has a close relationship with Instagram, the social network is designed as a separate application. Judging by its description in the App Store, the service will be “sharpened” for communication and placement of text content. The application will become a full-fledged alternative to Twitter; here you can also comment on text messages, rate them in the form of likes, and distribute your favorite posts among your friends and subscribers. Users will be able to save the name of their Instagram account, as well as keep track of those accounts that they already have a subscription to on this social network. The advantage of Threads is that all your Instagram followers are transferred directly to this application. Thus, it is no longer necessary to create a thematic group from scratch.

The news about the imminent appearance of Threads did not come as a shock, since, over the past few months, some information about it has gradually fallen into the information space. For example, Meta previously announced that the upcoming platform will be compatible with Mastodon's decentralized network. It sounded strange, of course, because Threads is part of a centralized Instagram. Therefore, it is not clear how the developers are going to implement such a promise.

Now is the perfect moment for Meta to release a new social network. Its archrival Twitter faced a mass exodus of users after its acquisition by Elon Musk, who laid off almost 50% of the staff and infringed on the rights of users with registered free accounts. Note that third-party applications developed by Meta did not always become popular and in demand. However, while Twitter is going through hard times, Instagram Threads has every chance to get around it. Nevertheless, the last word will still be with the users. Will they be willing to trust Meta with another part of their social media life?
