Twitter rolls out unmentioning option
This option was first introduced in April, but now, after a testing period, it is open to all account holders.
If you wish to remove your name from all unwanted conversations, a Twitter user can now do so using a new tool. The company is introducing an option for all users to erase mentions, when a user's nickname with tag can be deleted from a conversation where he was previously mentioned at one time. In this way, Twitter intends to increase the level of user security on the platform.
In an official announcement on the Twitter Safety page, the company says that the Unmentioning feature will remove all mention of a user, emphasizing that the option is now available for all users and on all devices. The option is available in the menu of the tweet that contains the unwanted mention about the user. You can get into it by clicking on the three dots in the upper corner of the message. The option to cancel mentions is activated after the user selects the "Leave this conversation" option.
By un-mentioning, the user can un-tag their nickname, so they won't be notified of conversations in which their name was mentioned. This function not only cancels all previously made mentions, but also prevents the participants in a particular discussion thread from tagging the user again.
