Meta's Threads Network Debuts in EU
Five months after its initial launch, social network Meta Threads has expanded its availability to the European Union. Meta initially had to limit the availability of Threads in the EU due to issues with compliance with the block's rules. This limitation meant that users could not download the application or access the network through the web version.
Last month, The Wall Street Journal reported Meta's plans to bring Threads to the EU by December. To maintain this, Threads showcased a countdown on its homepage, hinting at a launch on December 14th.
And finally, it took place. Mark Zuckerberg announced the wider availability of Threads in Europe in a post on this social network. He also expressed a warm welcome to new users. By the way, the Threads.net website introduces a unique feature called “Use without profile,” which allows users to view posts without logging in through Instagram. However, this mode limits interaction options such as replying, liking, or reposting.
During his third-quarter earnings discuss, Zuckerberg said Threads' user base is below 100 million monthly active users. Expanding into the EU market is expected to help the platform cross this milestone.
