Meta Launches AI Voice Translation
Meta has officially rolled out its AI-driven voice translation tool for Facebook and Instagram creators worldwide. The feature aims to break down language barriers and help content reach global audiences. Initially piloted at last year’s Meta Connect, it automatically translates creators’ spoken reels into other languages. It preserves the original tone and style, ensuring a natural, authentic sound.
To enhance realism, creators can activate a lip-sync option that synchronizes translated audio with lip movements. The launch currently supports translations between English and Spanish, with additional languages planned in future updates. The feature is available to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram creators in regions with Meta AI access.
Creators can select “Translate your voice with Meta AI” before posting, toggle lip-sync on or off, and preview the translation. Viewers see a notice indicating that a reel has been translated and can choose to hide translated content via settings.
A new Insights metric allows creators to track views by language, providing actionable data on international reach. Meta advises recording in clear conditions, minimizing background noise, facing the camera, and avoiding overlapping speech for optimal results.
The rollout coincides with a restructuring of Meta’s AI division, focusing on research, superintelligence, products, and infrastructure. By combining AI voice translation, lip-sync, and multi-track dubbing, Meta offers a powerful suite of tools for creators. These tools are essential for those seeking to grow internationally and engage audiences across cultures.
