Google's platform will detect security threats in the form of configuration errors or malicious bots and report them to the API developer.

The API security service for developers has been previewed by Google. Since this technology is actively used to transfer important information, including by large corporations, protecting data from errors or intruders is becoming an increasingly urgent problem. This is exactly what the Advanced API Security product built on the Apigee platform is intended for. All developers can access it via Google Cloud upon prior request.

One of the main tasks of Advanced API Security will be to detect malicious bots in API traffic. To do this, custom rules are used, with each rule describing a separate type of suspicious traffic from one IP address. When the traffic matches the specified rule in terms of its characteristics, the platform will report this event as a bot detection.

In addition, the service will analyze and evaluate the API itself, informing developers of any identified configuration problems and suggesting possible solutions in the form of recommendations. In this way, companies can significantly save on their resources that are involved in API configuration  management, error detection and security enhancement.
