ChatGPT Introduces GPT-5.6 and Unlimited Free Chats

OpenAI has introduced a major ChatGPT update, adding improved AI models not only for users on paid subscription plans but also for those who use the service for free. The release focuses on delivering more accurate responses, a smoother conversation experience, and broader access to advanced capabilities.

Subscribers to Plus and Pro now receive an upgraded GPT-5.6 Sol model that produces more precise answers and maintains a consistent style across both quick replies and deeper reasoning tasks. A new thinking slider also allows users to decide how much processing time ChatGPT should spend before responding, making it easier to balance speed and depth.

Free users are also receiving significant improvements. GPT-5.6 Luna becomes the default model, while unlimited text conversations are being introduced. A new Think button gives the AI extra time to solve more complex questions without requiring a paid subscription, although limits remain for features such as file uploads and image generation.

OpenAI also announced additional safety updates focused on users the company believes are under 18. The company trained the model to avoid romantic roleplay, age-restricted challenges, dangerous activities, and other potentially harmful topics. In addition, ChatGPT is designed to encourage teenagers to connect with trusted people in the real world when they may need support.
