Bluesky Extends Video Duration to 3 Minutes
Bluesky is now allowing users to upload videos lasting up to three minutes. The social platform first rolled out video capabilities in September, initially capped at 60 seconds. The new longer time limit brings Bluesky's features more in line with rival platforms such as X and Threads. The change also benefits third-party apps looking to create "TikTok for Bluesky" experiences, including services like Bluescreen and Skylight.
In addition, Bluesky has unveiled a new "Chat requests" feature that enables users to sort through messages from unfamiliar accounts. Users receiving DM requests can now choose to accept or decline conversations using this dedicated screen.
The platform has also streamlined account muting by introducing a "Mute account" option within the three-dot menu on posts. Bluesky has further enhanced its service with better tablet-friendly layouts for web users and improvements to its moderation reporting workflow.
