Amazon Expands AI Shopping with Lens Live

Amazon has launched Lens Live, an AI-powered enhancement to its existing Amazon Lens feature, bringing real-time visual search to shoppers. Unlike the standard Lens tool, which allows users to upload images, scan barcodes, or take photos to find products, Lens Live works differently. It lets consumers point their phones at items in the real world and instantly view matching products in a swipeable carousel.

The feature works alongside Amazon’s AI shopping assistant, Rufus. It offers AI-generated product summaries and suggested conversational prompts to help users quickly research items before purchasing. Shoppers can select items in the camera view to examine a product and then either add it to their cart or save it to their wish list.

Lens Live, powered by Amazon SageMaker and running on AWS-managed OpenSearch, delivers accurate, real-time results through scalable machine learning. It is part of the company’s expanding suite of AI-driven shopping tools, which range from guides and enhanced product reviews to clothing fit recommendations and personalized prompts. It also enables in-store comparison shopping. This feature helps customers quickly find better deals on similar products.
