Sources familiar with Meta's plans claim that its specialists are now developing a new type of chatbot that will communicate with users at the level of a living person. Their unofficial name is "persons". Each of them will be endowed with the features of a certain character, for example, a historical figure or a representative of any profession. The company is considering various options; in particular, one of the bots will most likely play the role of Abraham Lincoln, and the other will advise those who wish to travel on behalf of a person who is fond of surfing.

The main task of personalized chatbots is to provide information and recommendations, simulating natural live communication. In this way, Meta aims to attract new users and retain existing ones, in competition with other social platforms that introduce new technologies. In addition, the new product shows its desire to keep up with the progress. Given the ongoing large-scale hype around AI after the launch of ChatGPT and the speed of its implementation in various areas of human digital life, the developers decided to actively develop the Meta social networks in this direction.

Founder Mark Zuckerberg shared his plans to create new products based on generative artificial intelligence and integrate AI characters into his social media conglomerate back in February of this year. He noted that AI can help people communicate and express themselves in many ways. With tools for creativity (ChatGPT, Bard, Scribble Diffusion, and others), most are already familiar. The next level is personal assistants, who will perform the functions of a personal assistant, trainer, or consultant. However, this is all that is known at the moment. Details about the new product will most likely appear at the Facebook Connect developer conference, which is due to take place in September.
