With the launch of the chatbot My AI, the photo and video sharing app Snapchat has set a course to expand the capabilities of generative AI. The new Dreams tool, created based on artificial intelligence, will become a personal photo artist for users. It will give you the opportunity to creatively experiment with photos uploaded to the messenger, replacing their background with any other, both realistic and fantastic.

The news was announced by iOS app developer and technical product design analyst at Beroe Inc., Steve Moser. Explaining how the new feature works, he clarified that artificial intelligence will “cut out” people from photos and place them in different versions of a different “environment”. In fact, this will allow you to take high-quality photographs in any corner of the globe without leaving your own home. Interestingly, the background can be not only natural but also fantastic. The AI will easily take you to some scenic location from your favorite movie, like Pandora from James Cameron's sci-fi movie Avatar. At the same time, another feature is being developed – Dreams with Friends, which will be designed to "cut out" several people from photos at once.

An important point: Dreams is “sharpened” for processing user selfies. Therefore, like other AI tools, it needs the clearest possible selfies, not those where your facial features are poorly distinguishable or where there are other people besides you.

Links to purchase Dream Packs have been found in the Snapchat app. This gives reason to believe that, from a certain point on, this function will be paid for in whole or in part. Users may be prompted to purchase additional scripts. It has not yet been possible to find out if this is the case. For now, Snapchat representatives refrain from commenting.
