Meta Plans to Generate Ads Using AI
The American corporation Meta Platforms has been investing in the development of AI technologies for more than 10 years. Today, the main efforts of its developers are focused on them. Smart filters on Instagram, AI features in WhatsApp, and Messenger are the result of their successful implementation. Even large-scale staff cuts did not prevent the company's founder, Mark Zuckerberg, from announcing the opening of a special structural department in February this year. This department will be tasked with researching generative artificial intelligence and developing services and tools based on it. Sales Director Christopher Cox will lead the department.
On April 5, Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth told Japanese online news outlet Nikkei Asia in an interview that the company is now working on building AI tools for generating ads. These tools will help those involved in the promotion of goods or services create separate images for different audiences. The release of these tools is expected to occur before the end of this year. Andrew Bosworth believes that the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies in the process of creating advertising can increase its effectiveness, as AI will provide valuable tips to advertisers and work simultaneously for different target audiences. For example, it can be asked to design advertising banners or posters for the company, targeting both regular customers and potential buyers. As a result, businesses will experience significant savings in time, human resources, and financial resources.
As it turns out, Meta is not the only company interested in generative advertising. Startup Omneky, which unveiled its AI ad generation service at TechCrunch Disrupt in 2022, used the power of GPT-3 and DALLE-2 to create personalized campaigns. Movio has gone one step further and offered users an AI service that turns text into video with a spokesperson to create effective marketing videos.
