Bill Gates: AI can "kill" Google Search and Amazon
Speaking in San Francisco at the AI Forward event organized by Goldman Sachs and SV Angel, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates announced the coming apocalypse for technology giants – in particular for Google and Amazon. He said that one of the leading companies in the field of AI is likely to develop a personal digital assistant. The technology that will underpin this virtual assistant will be so advanced and deep that it can make a dramatic difference in user behavior. Thanks to it, a personal digital agent will subtly understand the needs and consider the habits of a person.
Gates suggested that a company that makes such an AI assistant will break into the lead in the field of artificial intelligence. From his point of view, it may well be both a well-known technology giant and a newly created startup with equal probability.
For reference. Inflection.AI is an AI startup created by Mustafa Suleiman, co-founder of the British artificial intelligence company DeepMind, and Reed Hoffman, co-founder of the American social network LinkedIn. In early May, the Pi chatbot was launched, which the developers themselves called "a personal companion giving friendly advice." You can experiment with this assistant today for free on the website or in a mobile application for iOS.
Bill Gates expressed the opinion that before the working version of the virtual assistant is launched into mass use, it will take some time. Until this happens, IT companies will continue to integrate generative AI into their products – ChatGPT from OpenAI and similar services.
