At the recently held Adobe Max 2023 conference, Adobe executives presented three new Firefly generative AI models:

  • Image 2 is the latest version of the Firefly AI family of text-to-image converters for Photoshop, with the much-anticipated Fill feature.
  • Vector – for drawing vector graphics in Illustrator.
  • Design – for generating design templates in Express.

Thanks to them, Express and Illustrator will acquire additional powerful tools, and Photoshop will significantly improve the existing functions of transforming text into a full-fledged image.

Adobe said that the quality of graphics generated by Image 2 is much higher than that of its predecessor. Changes for the better are especially noticeable in high-frequency details, for example, plant leaves, hair and skin textures of a person or animal, and appearance features in the process of rendering images containing them. Their resolution, brightness, contrast and, accordingly, photorealism are much higher. In addition, Image 2 provides a number of new features for AI-powered image editing.

Firefly Vector, designed for Adobe Illustrator, is a revolutionary product. There are no analogues of this generative AI model, designed to work with vector graphics, in the whole world. At its core, the AI algorithms create vector images based on text prompts formulated by the user. In the process of such joint creativity between humans and artificial intelligence, each graphic element is automatically divided into layers and groups, which is very convenient.

The Firefly Design model for the Adobe Express service transforms text into a graphic post or illustration for social networks, digital advertising, video, or print templates. To create a fully editable, highly customizable template, the user only needs to send the appropriate text prompt to the AI.

Currently, all new products are available exclusively in beta versions. For example, you can get acquainted with Image 2 today using the desktop beta version of Firefly. Adobe representatives said that very soon, those interested will be able to see it in the Creative Cloud suite of applications. There is no information yet about when exactly the full release of all three models will take place.
