D2C (eng. Direct to Consumer) is a form of market relations when a company supplies its goods or services directly to consumers, bypassing any intermediaries.

Recently, the DTC concept has attracted more and more attention. At the same time, the very idea of doing this kind of business appeared relatively recently — in 2010. And the first brand that worked in this direction was Warby Parker. The sunglasses produced under it did not differ much from the products of competitors. But the absence of intermediaries allowed the brand owner JAND Inc. to significantly reduce costs without losing product quality. Naturally, this could not go unnoticed by the attention of consumers.

Other companies also drew attention to the promising model. Here you can name, for example, the manufacturer of Allbirds shoes that are very popular today and the creator of Allbirds suitcases that are considered very comfortable. Uber, Lyft and many other brands that specialize in providing services work on this model.

Large companies are also increasingly moving to the DTC model today. Even giants like Nike are trying to abandon the services of retailers and save a lot of money on this. At the same time, it is believed that the main consumers of DTC brand products are people belonging to Generation Z and millennials.
