Since MySQL can interact with a wide variety of programming languages, it is readily used by developers, including beginners. According to Oracle, this system is one of the most used open source databases in the world. It is especially often chosen when creating web applications, although the capabilities of the system are not limited to this area only. MySQL is used by many popular websites including Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and YouTube. The system was created in 1995 by the Swedish company MySQL AB, which was later acquired by the American Sun Microsystems. Initially, the developers created a solution for their own needs, but in the end they got a separate interesting project that could interest the public. Today, all rights to MySQL are owned by Oracle Corporation, which in turn acquired Sun Microsystems in 2010. The system is constantly evolving, gaining more and more opportunities and attracting more and more attention from consumers with a wide variety of needs.
