On the afternoon of November 21, the number of registered accounts on the Hive social network reached 1 million. This information was shared by its founder Kassandra Pop.

Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter and his attempts to introduce new rules on the social network did not please some of its users. Some decided to leave there for a more comfortable place and actively searched for alternatives. Some liked the Mastodon decentralized microblogging platform, others liked the new generation social network CounterSocial and similar virtual communities. A significant increase in the audience was also demonstrated by the relatively recently appeared social network Hive. A wave of turmoil on Twitter made it one of the 20 most downloaded apps in the App Store.

Hive launched in 2019. Its founder is Kassandra Pop, a student from Southern California. She did not simply copy Twitter, although she borrowed something from it. Kassandra has developed an original social network, taking into account, first of all, the needs of Generation Z representatives. The Hive network has absorbed the best of other global virtual communities: it has features of Instagram, Twitter, MySpace. It is not limited to just browsing the shared feed and interacting with its content, as on Twitter. Here, users can subscribe to groups dedicated to specific topics: science and technology news, cars, various types of art (music, cinema, literature, choreography, visual arts), beauty and health, and pets. After a simple registration, the user gets the right to publish their posts here, mark other people's posts likes and leave comments on them. In a word, to conduct the usual social networking activities.

Those who want to find a worthy alternative to Twitter should pay attention to Hive, because it is based on a similar model that involves a set of followers. It also has an intuitive interface and navigation. Distinctive features of Hive are the priority of the timeline, the refusal to personalize the display of content in the feed and the inability to receive monetary income from your page.

Hive audience growth was seen in the weeks leading up to Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter. After the deal was finalized, the growth rate remained unchanged. According to data provided by the Sensor Tower analytical platform, over the past 30 days, the Hive app has been downloaded and installed on mobile devices about 214,000 times.
